25 Facts About Me

And now for something completely different, 25 random facts about me!

1. I love dancing. I used to help teach a bellydancing class.

2. I have central heterochromia, meaning the center of my irises are orange while the outside is green.

3. Although it sucks that people think I only got my job because of my dad, I love working with my dad. We don't work on the same team, but it's nice to have someone who will always grab an extra piece of pie for you.

4. I flip off my computer when it deletes things, like the first time I wrote out ALL of this post. Thanks Blogger automatic saving, thanks a lot...

5. Someone secretly puts dinosaur toys in my mailbox and I freak out in happiness every single time.

6. I collect Nancy Drew books and actually have two first editions.

7. I'm a worrier and a planner. I'm always running through options and potential outcomes in my head. There is always a plan and a back-up plan.

8. I know it's narcissistic, but my favorite holiday is my birthday. If someone ever bought me a paper birthday crown, I would wear it everywhere and be so excited.

9. Rubbing a cat belly is the holy grail.

10. I am very good at catching small objects, like Goldfish crackers and Starbursts. Cat-like reflexes for anything smaller than a quarter.

11. I don't have a lot of 'favorites': favorite food, favorite movie, favorite color. I'm too fickle to commit myself to one thing and get pigeon-holed.

12. I have a younger sister of who I am very protective.

13. I'm the only redhead in my immediate family. I have a redheaded aunt and my grandpa used to have red hair, but it's been white as long as I've known him

14. I watch Jurassic Park or any of the sequels whenever they're on TV, much to the chagrin of my family.

15. Although I am not Mormon, I lived in a Mormon apartment complex in college. It was great because there were never any rowdy parties.

16. I really love green olives.

17. When I was 10 years old, I accidentally ran over my next door neighbor on my bicycle. She was fine, but I haven't ridden a bicycle since.

18. I wouldn't care if about my fluctuating weight if all of my existing clothes still fit. I really need to print out a mantra that says something like, "Do you really want to eat that cookie or would you rather fit back into your green dress?" And the answer will always be the dress because it's a gorgeous vintage green silk number. More dress, less M and M's...

19. Singing way too loud in the car is my favorite guilty pleasure. I don't care if you drive past me and see me looking like an idiot, I'm having too much fun to care.

20. I've never broken a bone or spent the night in the hospital.

21. I could play The Sims 2 for days on end. DAYS!

22. My face is very dramatic. If I am pleased, I look estatic. If I'm annoyed, I look like I will rip your head off. If I'm tired, I look exhausted. Only video poker for me.

23. I hate being late for anything. If it's important, I always leave extra time and get really anxious if I'll only be on time, not early.

24. My favorite subject at school was Physics. My original major in college was 'Engineering Physics' until I switched it to the more practical and employable 'Mechanical Engineering' halfway through my first semester.

25. My first kiss with Dan was in a parking garage after he walked me to my car. Since he missed all the signals the previous times he walked me to my car, I told him I'd been having dreams about kissing him. He finally got the hint.

So now you know a little more about me. I'd say that explains why I'm so, um, odd, but that's just the tip of the iceberg...

Random Fact: Facebook Judging

When I'm stalking someone from high school on Facebook and they list some crazy, pointless major, have already graduated, and don't list where they work, I don't assume it's because they're protecting their privacy. Let's be honest, I assume they are either unemployed or embarrassed of their job because it has nothing to do with their major. You know you do it, too.

Random Fact of the Day: 11/15/11

Did you know that when "Beauty and the Beast" was released in China, the Beast's speaking and singing voices were dubbed by Jackie Chan?

That's just plain weird. And awesome. Jackie Chan is amazing.

32 Incredible Truths

I stumbled across these the other day on Pinterest. Tell me you don't believe in all of them.
  1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.
  2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong (A close second being the look on the other person's face when they know they have you beat.)
  3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger. (Sorry Mom.)
  4. There is a great need for a sarcasm font.
  5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet? (I found this link, but I don't buy it.)
  6. Was learning cursive really necessary? (This is probably the one I disagree with most. Cursive is AWESOME! It makes whatever I'm writing seem pretty and girly.)
  7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
  8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.
  9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.
  10. Bad decisions make good stories.
  11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day. (This feeling hits me at 10AM more often than I would like to admit.)
  12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again. (I'm still trying my damnest to ignore Blue Ray...)
  13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I didn't make any changes.
  14. "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this - ever.
  15. I hate when I just miss a call by the last right, but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voice mail. What did you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?
  16. I hate leaving the house looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.
  17. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.
  18. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.
  19. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.
  20. I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.
  21. Sometimes, I'll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the heck was going on when I first saw it. (When I bought all the DVDs of "Friends", so many of the jokes finally made sense.)
  22. I would rather try to carry 10 over-loaded plastic bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring in the groceries.
  23. The only time I look forward to a red light is when I'm trying to finish a text. (Or finish my lipstick.)
  24. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.
  25. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they siad?
  26. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters! (This is my favorite. thing. ever!)
  27. Shirts get dirty. Underwear get dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty and you can wear them forever. (But if you ate Cheetos, do an orange handprint check.)
  28. Is it just me or do high school kids get dumber and dumber every year?
  29. There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.
  30. As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers.
  31. Sometimes I'll look at my watch three consecutive times and still not know what time it is.
  32. Even under ideal conditions, people have trouble locating their cell phone, but I'd bet my ass everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time.

Take that Hulk Hogan!

I found this video a couple of weeks ago. This guy is amazing! I think he's the first guy to bring true theatrics to Greco-Roman wrestling. What makes this guy even more awesome is how casual he is afterward. He's like, Where's my water?

Not that I'd ever be able to do something as athletically cool as this guy, but it's pretty good motivation to train to try.

Random Tangent to the Circle

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote this post about the meta circle of cast members of "Saved by the Bell" and Justin Bieber wearing each others picture on their shirt...of them wearing each others picture on their shirt.

Well, a few days ago, I found this picture of Anthony Kiedis, lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, getting all tangled up in this t-shirt method.

Place your bets on who will be the next to join in the silliness. Seriously, if someone gets it right, I will hunt night and day until I find a copy of one of these shirts and make it the "grand" prize.

Dance Party in Gotham City

Today, a spoiler pic was released from the set of the next Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. You can see the original picture here.

When I first saw the picture, I only saw a portion of it. Now, I've cropped it down and with my amazing artistic talents (PAINT!), tell me you can look at this and not see what I see! I like my version better.

If I only knew how to make a gif, I would be forever amused.

Maybe this is morbid...

...but can you imagine Lady Gaga in ten years?

I just can't. Not because I think she'll do something so outlandish that there's no way I could predict it.

But, because, as horrible as it sounds, I can't imagine her being alive in ten years. She's got that quality, like Elvis, like Marilyn Monroe, like John Lennon, like River Phoenix. To me, she's just going to burn as brightly as she can before she burns out before her time.

Also, compare these two pictures of her. One is from two years ago, where she looks like a normal(ish) pop star. The other is from a couple of months ago, looking like she hasn't eaten in months. Combine that with the partying and lack of eating she admits to, and it's not an equation for longevity.
